Mehndi, or Henna as it’s commonly referred to, is a form of temporary tattoo that’s created using a natural dye (lawsone) extracted from the leaves of the henna plant. Also known as hennotannic acid, lawsone sinks deep into the skin, lasting anywhere from a few days all the way up to a few weeks.Colors varying from light orange to black can be achieved depending on how long the medium is left in contact with the skin.

Mehndi designs are frequently used in Hindu culture to decorate a bride on her wedding day. Traditional mehndi tattoos are usually comprised of symmetrical bands, reoccurring patterns, and mandala style flowers.

There are oodles of talented henna artists out there but talented Kiev-based Veronica Krasovska is one of the best in the business. Her steady hand and flawless style give her designs that extra bit Instagramable energy. Here are 37 of her best and most awe-inspiring designs. Enjoy!
